Followers: what they can and cannot do

A follower is someone who reads a project without being part of its team. There are two ways to become one: joining a public project through its link, or accepting an email invitation to a private company project. Either way the rights are the same. What a follower can do: - Search and read the project's memos, including ones added later, in the web app and from their own AI client over MCP. - Download the memos' attachments. - Leave the project at any time. What a follower cannot do or see: - Create, edit, delete, restore or tag anything, or share a memo. - See the member list or the other followers. - See who wrote or edited a memo, or its change history. - See deleted memos. - Read the project's instructions. - See anything else in the company or in the owner's account. Cost. A follower is not a team member and takes no seat. Their searches in a project they follow count toward their own plan's allowance, not the project owner's. Removing followers: - On a public project, followers cannot be removed one at a time. Switching the project to Members only removes all of them. - On a private project, the project owner (or the company owner) can remove any follower individually. - Switching a project from Public to Private keeps its followers. Switching to Members only removes them all. - If the company subscription lapses, followers lose access until it is renewed. Giving a follower a real role. A follower has no role to change. In a company project, invite them to the company: once they accept, every company project they followed turns into viewer access, and they can be made an editor from there. Otherwise they leave the project first and are then invited like anyone else.
