Meet private projects — a new level of access

Until now, if someone outside your team needed to read a project, there was one way to do it: a public link. That is fine for documentation you want people and search engines to find. For a client's project it is worse: the link gets forwarded to someone's colleague, and you no longer know who is reading.

From today a company project has a third option between "members only" and "public": private.

Private projects

A private project has no link at all. Instead, the owner or an editor invites people by email. Whoever accepts becomes a follower: they read the project on the web and connect it to their own AI client, but cannot change anything. Followers take no seat on the team, so a contractor, a client or an auditor costs you nothing.

The difference is that you know who they are. The owner sees the list of followers and can revoke any one of them while the rest keep reading. A public project cannot do that: its link can only be closed for everyone at once.

Private access is available for company projects on the Team plan.

Three levels of access

A project now has three levels:

• Members only — the default. Only the people you added to the project.
• Private — members plus followers invited by email.
• Public — anyone with the link can read the project and follow it. Search engines too.

Public projects

A public project is for knowledge you want people to find, like documentation for an open-source library or a guide for your customers. Anyone can read it without an account, and following it takes one click.

Inside a company

People see only the projects they were added to. They never learn about the rest: those projects are not in their project list or in their AI client's search. Inside a project everyone has a role: an editor writes, a viewer only reads.

Memo links

Sometimes you need to share one memo rather than the whole project. By default a memo link is open only to project members, but you can open it to the whole company or to anyone who has it. A memo opened to the company shows up in search for everyone in it, including people who are not in the project. They can only read it and will not see which project it came from.

Personal memos stay personal

Only you can see your personal memos. The owner of the company you work in cannot read them either, and they cannot be shared by link. On the Max plan you can open your personal projects to one family member and remove them at any time. Every memo stays yours.

What your AI client sees

An AI client connected to Memocore sees exactly what you see. Before it writes anything into a shared project, it has to check the text for personal and sensitive data and confirm with you. API keys for your integrations are issued for selected projects, so a support bot reads only the part of the memory you opened to it.

Nothing disappears by accident

Every memo has a history of who changed it and how. A deleted memo goes to the archive first and can be restored for 45 days. A memo can also be given a lifetime, after which it moves to the archive on its own.
