# Managing your subscription and billing

You manage your plan and payments from the billing area in the Memocore app. Payments are processed securely by Stripe - Memocore never stores your card details.

Personal and company billing are separate. Free, Pro and Max are personal plans on your own account. Team is a corporate plan on a company, billed per seat. Each has its own billing page and its own subscription, and one cannot be switched into the other - see "Can I switch from Pro or Max to Team?".

What you can do:
- Change your personal plan: move between Free, Pro and Max and check out. Pro and Max can be billed monthly or yearly.
- Put a company on Team: create a company. The first company you create starts on a 30-day free Team trial with no card needed; switch to paid at any time with the "Switch to paid" button on the company billing page. Team is billed monthly per seat, separately from any personal plan you have. See "Team free trial: 30 days, no card".
- Update payment method or view invoices: done through the Stripe customer portal linked from the billing page.
- Downgrade or cancel: switch to a lower plan or cancel your paid subscription from the same place. You keep access to paid features until the current billing period ends, then the account moves to the plan you chose (a personal account always falls back to the permanent Free plan).

For teams:
- The company owner handles the team subscription and seats. Adding members consumes seats; the per-seat charge follows your seat count. People invited by email to follow a private project are not members and take no seat.
- If a company subscription lapses or is cancelled, or its free trial ends unpaid, its projects become inaccessible until it is paid - but the owner can still export all company data, so nothing is lost.

What happens at a limit: if you reach a plan limit (for example the maximum number of memos, projects, or your storage allowance), Memocore will ask you to upgrade to add more. Your existing data stays intact - you just cannot add beyond the limit until you upgrade or free up space.

If you downgrade below a feature you were using, that feature simply turns off. Losing the guest slot, for example, ends your family guest's access to your personal projects. If the new plan allows fewer public projects than you have published, the newest ones are unpublished and their followers lose access. Your memos and projects remain.
